Who are the Canary Family on Board?
We are Amanda (Mummy), Jose (Daddy) and Baby O, a family of 3 living in the UK but originally from Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Spain.

Amanda (Mummy)
The dreamer and doer of the family. She is the one with a large bucket list of destinations. Highly sociable, Amanda makes friends wherever she goes. She loves interacting with locals and other families we meet during other trips. Always direct and ready to make quick decisions on the spot, she has gotten out of a few tricky situations.
Countries visited: Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, England, Wales, Scotland, Switzerland, Hungary, Croatia, Malta, Greece, Andorra, Vatican City, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and Japan.

Jose (Daddy)
The thinker and planner of the family. Jose likes to plan ahead to get an idea of what we are going to face when we get to a new destination. He is also open to spontaneous adventures and really enjoys them, but would prefer a bit of planning. Jose is the one in charge of carrying our passports and the baby carrier and bags during our journey through the airports and while we wander around new cities. He has lived in Spain, Italy, the USA, and the UK.
Countries visited: Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, England, Wales, Scotland, Switzerland, Hungary, Croatia, Malta, Germany, Denmark, Norway, USA, Russia, Guadeloupe, Greece, Andorra, Vatican City, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and Japan.

Baby O
Born in 2022, Baby O has been flying and travelling regularly every couple of months since she was just 3 months old. She was actually almost born on a plane, as she was born 5 weeks ahead, just shortly after Amanda travelled back home. When Baby O decided that she was ready to explore the world and that the day had come, Daddy was in another country, more than 2800km away. That is more than 4 hours by plane. She just wanted the family to be together and waited just enough so that Daddy was able to arrive in time and be next to Mummy when Baby O was born.
Countries visited: Spain, England, Wales, Hungary, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and Japan.
Our Story
Even before Baby O came into our life, we were regular travellers. We lived in different countries for several years, when Jose lived briefly in Italy, then over a year in the United States when we were just 18 years old, and when he moved to the UK a few years before Amanda joined him. That meant we had to travel every few months just to be together. This, of course, is on top of our holiday trips together.
Went Baby O came into our life, we decided to continue travelling. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but also that nothing could stop us. We wanted to show Baby O how wonderful the world is.
We love travelling with our little baby O. Whether we go to the other side of the world, to a nearby country, or a neighbouring city, we take it as an adventure. We always try to get the most out of the trip as a family. We know these times and adventures as we know them more won’t last. And to be honest, we don’t even know what each trip will bring us. Kids grow so quickly that each day they develop new skills that amaze us.
Why We Are Writing This Blog
We like to do a bit of research beforehand for every trip and adventure. This can be as simple as asking some friends and colleagues or as complex as researching multiple websites and blogs online to plan a long trip away from home. We like to read and understand how other families like I’d have experienced the places we want to travel. We want real and tested feedback, not just the generic things to do and places to eat that everybody posts.
After all, families already juggle the demands of parenting and work-life balance. We understand the struggle to find time for research during those precious few days off.
That’s why our blog is a haven for families seeking quick, tested tips. From travelling with newborns to wrangling toddlers and older kids, we’ve got you covered. Expect dos and don’ts, firsthand experiences, and practical advice for family-friendly destinations.
Places We Have Visited
Since we’ve been together, we have travelled to many countries, mainly around Europe, but also to other overseas destinations. Our trips include travelling as a couple, with friends and family, solo travelling and of course, we have and continue travelling as a family with our little Baby O.
We have tried almost every form of travelling. From backpacking through Europe, enjoying both, luxury and budget travelling around the Canary Islands, to discovering the northern lights in Norway while travelling with a camper van. We have travelled through Russia sleeping in the Red Arrow train, and explored the USA with road trips through the East and West coasts.
The places we have visited can be found on the map below:
